Course description
Friday, Oct. 4
This hands-on workshop includes two sessions for point-of-care ultrasound and skin and soft tissue biopsies.
The first session will be led by Joy Shen-Wagner, MD, and will focus on skin and soft tissue point-of-care ultrasound.
Increases in technology with decreases in cost of equipment have allowed more health care professionals to perform ultrasound diagnostics to aid in the sensitivity and specificity of palpation. This workshop will focus on skin and soft tissue, a procedure that is simple to interpret and carries low liability, benefiting patient and practitioner.
The second session will be led by MOH surgeon Charlie Darragh, MD. The skills workshop includes both punch and shave biopsies. There is a high demand for dermatological treatment from primary care as early detection is important. Implementing dermatologic practices into primary care improves revenue and patient relationships.
Saturday, Oct. 5
The sessions will update topics in primary care to close practice gaps and present emerging trends. Chronic disease management is always challenging due to changes in best practices, treatment guidelines and new treatment therapies. The presentation will combine lectures and question-and-answer sessions, with time between sessions for networking.
