Requirements for Placement

Please view the program-specific requirements for placement at Prisma Health.

• Student must be a full-time or part-time Prisma Health team member for at least 90 days.
• Student must attend a current Prisma Health affiliated School of Nursing.
  • If you are enrolled in a non-affiliated program please contact NursingAcademics@prismahealth.org for further assistance.
• Student must hold a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) as defined by the State of South Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Student is responsible for securing their own Prisma Health preceptor. 
  • ​A preceptor verification form must be completed and sent to NursingAcademics@prismahealth.org.
• Student must complete the Independent Student Request form.
  • The “Independent Student Request” form should not be submitted until the student has secured a Prisma Health preceptor.
  • The form must be submitted in a timely manner. A student may not begin a clinical placement the same week they submit a placement request. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks to complete the required Prisma Health student clearance process once your request form has been approved by Nursing Academics.
  • The form must be filled out completely. Incomplete forms will be returned to the student for updating.
• If approved, the student must complete the required student clearance process.
