Medical laboratory scientists play a critically important role in the diagnosis and treatment of disease by providing vital information from analyses of tissues, blood and body fluids that guide physicians in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. Clinical laboratories can include several disciplines such as clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, immunohematology, microbiology, and molecular biology.
Our mission
The mission of the Medical Laboratory Science Program at Prisma Health is to provide a quality education and clinical training to prepare future medical laboratory scientists with all necessary skills, knowledge and technical capabilities to be successful. These future medical laboratory scientists will go on to ultimately serve the health needs of the Midlands and other nearby communities while also adding to the medical laboratory profession.
