Organizing a CME Learning Activity
Organizing a CME learning activity
Ensuring an activity meets the requirements to be a CME-accredited activity is not as difficult as it may seem, and we have resources to help you get started. Please contact the CME team via email at CME@Prismahealth.org.
Although our department focuses primarily on physician-related learning, we are interested in supporting any activity that provides a learning opportunity for healthcare professionals. No matter the activity, we can provide support with developing event registration and assist with seeking approval for other types of credit if requested.
Please contact the CME team via email at CME@Prismahealth.org.
What types of activities are supported?
Depending on the type of activity you are planning and its intended start date, your development timeline and requirements will vary. The types of activities we support are
- Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) – this includes, but is not limited to, committee meetings, tumor boards, journal clubs and lecture series. We recommend 8 – 12 weeks to plan an RSS activity.
- Courses – these are yearly or stand-alone events (i.e., conferences). We suggest allowing at least 8 months to plan these events.
- Enduring material – on-demand content such as online modules, recorded presentations or podcasts that can be accessed by participants at any time and location for as long as the material is made available.
The first step in planning an activity is going to the Ethos learning management system. Click on “Tool kit” and complete the “CME Activity Request Form.” If you need assistance accessing or completing this form, please contact the CME team.
How does the CME Office support the planning process?
The CME Office is here to ensure the presenter(s) and content of your event, meeting or material meets accreditation requirements. Our team has a great deal of experience with adult learning in a variety of modalities and we hope to inspire you with the latest trends and research in this field. We are available to join your planning committee meetings as requested. We want you to have a great time planning and delivering the learning event, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us for suggestions or to discuss best practices.
For any requests regarding event management support such as travel accommodations, facility requests, caterers, etc., please see your Activity Coordinator for the event.
