Indications for Consultation

  • Pregestational diabetes

  • Twin/multifetal pregnancy
    • Monochorionic twin pregnancies for twin-twin transfusion syndrome surveillance

    • FGR
    • Macrosomia
  • Suspected fetal anomalies 
  • Aneuploidy markers (e.g., abnormal nuchal skin-fold, echogenic intracardiac focus, short femur/humerus, choroid plexus cyst, etc.)
  • Hydrops fetalis
  • Abnormalities of amniotic fluid
    • Oligohydramnios
    • Polyhydramnios
  • Preterm labor 
  • Premature rupture of membranes 
  • Recurrent early miscarriage
  • Midtrimester pregnancy loss
  • History of preterm labor, preterm prelabor rupture of membranes, or preterm delivery
  • Cervical insufficiency
  • History of stillbirth or neonatal death
  • Hyperemesis gravidarum
  • Uterine malformations
  • Previous uterine or cervical surgery
  • Aneuploidy screening
  • Genetic counseling 
  • Family history of genetic disorder, congenital anomaly (e.g., cardiac, neural tube defects, etc.) or mental retardation
  • Maternal viral infections/exposures (e.g., Parvovirus, HIV, hepatitis B/C, CMV, VZV, HSV)
  • Maternal hemoglobinopathy
  • Maternal history of deep venous thrombosis or thromboembolic disease
  • Known thrombophilia
  • Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
  • Maternal asthma or other severe pulmonary disease
  • Severe anemia
  • History myocardial infarction
  • Maternal pulmonary hypertension
  • Maternal history of cardiomyopathy
  • History of maternal medication or teratogenic exposure
  • History of maternal alloimmunization or fetal hydrops
  • Abnormal maternal serum screening for genetic or fetal anomalies
  • Maternal thyroid disease
  • Maternal cardiac disease
  • Maternal seizure disorder
  • Maternal renal disease
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome or other connective tissue disorders
  • Maternal substance abuse
  • History of bariatric surgery
  • Fetal cardiac arrhythmias or abnormal heart rate
  • Placental abnormality (e.g. placenta previa, placenta accreta spectrum, molar pregnancy, vasa previa, velamentous cord insertion, etc.) 
  • Coordination of care and referral for fetal surgery
