Candidates who completed a pediatric-focused PGY1:

*If PGY1 not completed at Prisma Health Richland

Candidates who are focusing on pediatric infectious diseases will have additional requirements with the Microbiology lab, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic and repeated learning experiences with Pediatric Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship

UofSC College of Pharmacy Clinical Teaching Certificate Program
  • The Clinical Teaching Certificate (CTC) Program is a structured educational program to enhance teaching and precepting skills, allowing pharmacists to become confident and motivational educators in both academic and clinical pharmacy settings
Prisma Health/UofSC School of Medicine Simulation Center
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) – Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Mock Code Training

Residency program requirements

  • Major research project (final presentation at Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) annual meeting)
  • Research project manuscript suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  • Sign off on 100% disease state discussions 
  • Achieve for Residency (ACHR) 100% goals and objectives
  • Present Pharmacy Grand Rounds (or ACPE-accredited pharmacist CE)
  • Present two pharmacy department Lunch and Learn presentations
  • Serve as course co-coordinator for the pediatrics elective at USC College of Pharmacy.
  • Precept students from the USC College of Pharmacy
  • Participation in Discover USC (poster presentations with medical residents/fellows, pharmacy residents, medical students, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students)
  • Provision of 246 staffing hours (every 4th weekend)
  • Complete one Medication Use Evaluation (MUE)
  • Present research in progress or MUE at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • Cover all Pediatric Medical Emergenices while on campus
  • Serve on Pediatric Adver Drug Event (ADE) Committee
  • Participate in SC Society of Health-System Pharmacists
  • Participate in on-site and/or virtual recruitment efforts
