Highlights of our program include:
Pediatric infectious diseases
We run the only comprehensive HIV/AIDS program for children in the 17-county referral area and also provide pediatric infectious disease expertise and advice to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Services. Our team has faced the most resistant bacteria in the state and has the capabilities of providing phage therapy for those challenging cases.
Pediatric antimicrobial stewardship program
The first pediatric program in South Carolina; rounds daily with the pediatric infectious diseases physicians and is one of the most progressive programs in the nation. Recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
Microbiology laboratory learning experience
This elective rotation provides a very hands-on learning experience and exposure to rapid diagnostics tests that are used to identify a wide array of pathogens.
Pediatric emergency medicine
The only pediatric emergency center in central South Carolina; American College of Surgeons Level I Trauma Center; innovative pediatric trauma program.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Cares for 1,000+ referrals/year.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Provides care for more than 800 critically ill and premature babies per year; is a neonatal ECMO center and has a neonatal brain cooling program.
Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Prisma Health Children's Hospital
Leads the state in referrals for pediatric cancer and leads the Cancer Center in participation in national clinical trials.
Children’s Oncology Group member
World’s largest clinical research organization for childhood cancers, our program networks with more than 250 leading cancer centers. This unique network allows our team to draw upon the latest treatment protocols and research.
Hemophilia Center
South Carolina's only federally-funded comprehensive hemophilia center.
Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Clinic
Includes a Sickle Cell Clinic and a Brain Tumor Clinic.
Children’s Surgery Center
Our surgeons represent a broad array of specialties and serve children with routine and complex surgical needs.
Endocrine Outpatient Clinic
Contains our Pediatric Diabetes and Obesity Institute.
National Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Center
One of three in the state of South Carolina.
Primary Dyskinesia Center
One of fewer than 50 worldwide.
Simulation Center
Offers courses such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Mock Code Training and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
