Clinical Skills Training at the Simulation Center
Our Clinical Skills program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare healthcare professionals with hands-on practice in physical examinations, diagnostics and patient interactions through the Standardized Patient Program.
With our robust simulation program, learners gain proficiency from structured physical exam practices on everything from conflict escalation to advanced methods like PETA (Physical Exam Teaching Associates), ultrasound and more. This integration enhances clinical decision-making and bedside manner through realistic, supervised scenarios, ensuring trainees are well-equipped for real-world healthcare challenges.
Our Clinical Skills program proudly supports a wide array of educational partners, including:
- The University of South Carolina School of Medicine’s medical program
- Clemson’s School of Nursing
- USC’s Pharmacy program
- Greenville Technical College’s nursing program
- And many others
By collaborating with these institutions, we provide customized simulation experiences that align with their curricula, enabling students to gain hands-on, practical skills in a safe, supervised environment. This collaborative approach enriches learning and prepares students for successful healthcare careers.
For requests related to clinical skills, please contact our Clinical Skills staff to discuss specific needs. Our team is dedicated to customizing training experiences to align with your unique requirements, ensuring all necessary resources and support are provided to meet your educational goals.
This personalized approach helps maximize the value of each session within our simulation center.
Standardized Patient Program
Our Standardized Patient (SP) program provides a dynamic, interactive learning environment designed to engage participants in realistic patient encounters that enhance clinical skills and communication. Our carefully trained SPs facilitate interactive patient experiences, allowing learners to practice essential non-invasive procedural skills and perform physical exams in a safe, controlled setting.
By simulating diverse clinical scenarios, our SP program helps build confidence, empathy and diagnostic accuracy, ultimately preparing healthcare professionals for real-world patient interactions and fostering excellence in patient care.
Simulation Technology
Our Simulation Center offers an extensive array of advanced simulation equipment and task trainers designed to create realistic clinical scenarios.
With a robust 3D printing initiative, we can also develop custom trainers tailored to meet unique clinical needs. This technology is supported by a skilled team of Simulation Specialists, who ensure these tools are effectively utilized to meet the demands of diverse training programs.
Their expertise allows us to deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that prepare healthcare professionals for real-world challenges.
Our trainers utilize:
- Low Fidelity simulation
- High Fidelity simulation
- Standardized Patients
- Anatomy Lab
- Hybrid simulation
- AR/VR & High Tech
