Cardiology Fellowship Columbia - Faculty

Barry J. Feldman, MD, FACC, FACP, FSCAI, is the program director of the cardiology fellowship at Prisma Health and a clinical assistant professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and completed his residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School. He completed a cardiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and is board certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease.

Patrick J. McCann, MD, earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Louis University Hospital (SLUH). He also completed a clinical fellowship in cardiology at SLUH. He then completed an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at the University of California San Diego.

Dr. McCann is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and heart failure and transplant cardiology. He is skilled in managing patients that require advanced therapies for heart failure, including left ventricular assist devices, biventricular assist devices and cardiac transplant. McCann is director of Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Prisma Health Heart Hospital.

Rebecca Napier, MD, is a cardiologist with Prisma Health and a clinical assistant professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. She received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases at the Medical College of Georgia and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Napier is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

Jennifer A. Feldman, MD, FRACP, earned her medical degree from the University of Queensland Medical School in Brisbane, Australia. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Royal Brisbane Hospital and a cardiology fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. She also completed a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Feldman is board certified by the Australian Board of Medical Examiners in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.

Sultan Siddique, MD, FACC, FHRS, earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in New York City and completed his residency in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Siddique is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology. He is skilled in performing a multitude of device implantations and ablation procedures for all types off arrhythmia issues, and has performed approximately 200 ablations a year over the past eight years.

Donald R. Siddoway, MD, is a cardiac electrophysiologist with Prisma Health Cardiology. He earned his medical degree at the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Dr. Siddoway completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, both at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. His residency in internal medicine was also conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Siddoway is board certified in the following from the American Board of Internal Medicine: internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

Kurt Barringhaus, MD, received his medical degree from Saint Louis University in St. Louis and completed his internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. He completed cardiovascular and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

J. Kevin Baugh, MD, FACC, earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine and a cardiology fellowship at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease.

Matthew G. Cantrell, MD, FACC, FSCAI, earned his undergraduate degree at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus. He performed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, and completed his fellowship in general cardiology and interventional cardiology at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Cantrell is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. Cantrell is co-director of the Valve Center at Prisma Health Heart Hospital.

Patrick Hall, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina. He specializes in caring for patients with structural heart problems using non-surgical techniques, including treatment of narrowed valves, leaky valves, closure of heart defects, and closing left heart appendages to prevent stroke.

Dr. Hall also has interest and long-standing expertise in advanced non-surgical coronary treatments for severely narrowed or blocked arteries using balloons and stents. He has experience in treating peripheral vascular blockages and a special interest in cardiovascular device research.

Hall has been in practice for more than 30 years and performed over 15,000 interventional procedures. He is married with three daughters and enjoys walking, windsurfing, swimming, hiking and reading.

Guillermo E. Pineda, MD, FACC, FSCAI, earned his medical degree from Universidad del Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed fellowships in cardiology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, and in interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular intervention at Gill Heart Institute in Lexington, Kentucky. Prior to his fellowship, he practiced cardiology at Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

Thomas W. Schultz, DO, earned his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Athens, Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in general cardiology at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois. He completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at University of Connecticut at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. Dr. Schultz is board certified in interventional cardiovascular medicine, cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine. He is skilled in adult transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, percutaneous coronary intervention, permanent pacemaker implantation and peripheral diagnostics.

Vince M. Vismara, MD, FACC, FSCAI, received his undergraduate degree from St. Louis University and earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, and then completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiovascular medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Vismara is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Prisma Health Heart Hospital.

Meghan L. Businaro, DO, earned her undergraduate degree at Eastern Illinios University, and her DO at Midwestern University-Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her internship and residency in internal medicine were conducted at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she also completed her fellowship in cardiology. Dr. Businaro is board certified in cardiology, echocardiology and nuclear medicine. She is the medical director for Prisma Health’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Her interests are preventative cardiology, women’s heart disease and heart failure.

Richard A. Edelson, MD, PhD, FACC, earned his bachelor of science in chemistry at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and his PhD in biological chemistry at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, where he also served his internship and residency in internal medicine, and completed a fellowship in cardiology. Dr. Edelson is board certified in cardiovascular disease.

Terry A. Grainger, MD, FACC, ABSM, earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. He completed a fellowship in cardiology at East Carolina University School of Medicine, also in Greenville, and is board certified in cardiovascular disease and sleep medicine.

Rodney V. Harrison, MD, FACC, D,ABSM, earned his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, where he was chief resident of the Department of Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Palmetto Health Richland, earned the CIBA-Geigy Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1994 and was named Cardiovascular Fellow of the Year in both 1996 and 1997. Dr. Harrison is board certified in cardiovascular disease and sleep medicine.

Ryan J. MacNevin, MD, earned his undergraduate degree at Brown University and his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His internship and residency in internal medicine were conducted at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. He completed his fellowship in cardiology at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Dr. MacNevin is board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. He specializes in non-invasive cardiovascular disease and has an interest in management of advanced heart failure and congenital heart disease.

Michael Luc, MD, is a staff cardiologist at VAMC. He earned his medical degree from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Hospital and his cardiology fellowship at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

Carl W. Thurmond, MD is the Chief of Cardiology Services at VAMC. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics. He is board certified in internal medicine.
