Cardiology Fellowship Columbia - Program Details
Training sites
Fellowship training takes place jointly on the Prisma Health Richland Hospital campus and the Columbia VA Medical Center.
Didactics
Our objective is to offer balanced training to meet the rigors of a general cardiology practice and provide a solid foundation for the potential pursuit of further subspecialty training (with a current 100% match rate for sub-specialization). The curriculum can be tailored to meet one’s individual and professional goals during elective and research training blocks. Overall training will be focused on mastering the core clinical competencies of the ACGME.
Didactics occur weekly at 7 a.m. Our conference series includes but is not limited to:
- Clinical cardiology conference that is case-based and incorporates all aspects of cardiovascular pathophysiology with an emphasis on current guideline directed therapy.
- Core curriculum conference includes didactic lectures covering a comprehensive list of cardiovascular diseases.
- Journal club gives fellows an opportunity to present and critically review an article of importance in cardiology.
- Cardiac cath and nuclear correlation conference is case based emphasizing quality nuclear imaging and angiography.
- Echo conference covers theory and application of echocardiography as well as case review.
- ECG conference will touch on interesting and challenging ECGs.
- Board review conference as provided by the Mayo Clinic helps each fellow, from the beginning of the fellowship, cover questions that will help with taking their boards at the end of our program.
