Overview of rotations

First year child and adolescent – PGY 4

  • Children's inpatient (SCDMH Wm. S. Hall): 3 months
  • Adolescent inpatient (Prisma Health Baptist): 3 months

  • Outpatient continuity care
  • Parent child interactive therapy (PCIT)
  • Play therapy
  • C/A evaluation clinic
  • Autism spectrum clinic (SCDMH)
  • Metropolitan Children's Advocacy Center (SCDMH)
  • Complex patient evaluation and testing
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

Second year child and adolescent – PGY 5

  • Outpatient continuity care
  • Medication management
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Pediatric consultation liaison
  • School consultation
  • Pediatric community consultation       
  • Forensic (SC DJJ)
  • Pediatric neurology
  • Selective

Clinical teaching

  • Direct supervision and teaching by faculty on all rotations.
  • 2 hours minimum of individual supervision weekly.

Events

  • Didactics: Wednesday, 8:30–11:30 a.m., weekly.
  • Residents' meeting: Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.–12 p.m., weekly.
  • Child grand rounds: second Friday, 12–1 p.m., monthly.
  • Journal club and case conference: second Wednesday, 12–1 p.m., monthly.
