I moved to Taylors, South Carolina, with my husband when I started my psychiatry residency here with the Greer Program. I love everyone here and I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to do the CAP Fellowship! The patient population affords many great learning opportunities, and the faculty and staff are teachers and colleagues with qualities that I wish to emulate in my own practice. My husband and I love the area and are glad we were able to welcome our son into the world here in South Carolina. This program already feels like a second family.

I am thrilled to be joining the child and adolescent fellowship at Prisma Health. My husband and I moved from West Virginia with our six-month-old son and Italian greyhound. Psychiatry offers tremendous flexibility in both evaluation and management, which is both intellectually stimulating and challenging. Within that field, I gravitated towards child and adolescent psychiatry. Children are impressionable, intelligent, and have limitless capacity for success, given the right tools. As a provider, having the opportunity to observe their growth and trajectory, to make changes and see outcomes over time, and to share in the vicissitudes of life while helping to provide tools that reinforce stability feels incredibly rewarding. The first time we traveled to Greenville we fell in love with the city’s natural attractions, American history, and southern traditions. We are foodies and excited to explore the amazing dining options and outdoor attractions.

Undergrauate: Clemson University
Medical School: University of South Carolina School of Medicine - Columbia, SC
Residency: Prisma Health – Greenville, SC

I knew from the day that I interviewed with Dr. Zappitelli as a fourth-year medical student that this fellowship was where I wanted to be! The exposure to inpatient and outpatient CAP during my three years of psychiatry residency here at Prisma Health Greenville only further cemented the desire to join this program. Being able to call Greenville home is just icing on top of the cake! When not working, you will find me in Death Valley cheering on the Tigers or exploring the many Greenville parks with my son and two doodles!

Hometown:  Los Angeles, CA
Undergraduate: California State University Northridge
Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine
Residency: Prisma Health-University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Psychiatry Residency Greenville

I am a native of Los Angeles, California. I graduated from California State University Northridge and earned my medical degree with high honors from Ross University School of Medicine. During my time in medical school, I received a scholarship from the American Psychiatric Association. After completing medical school, I pursued a master’s in public health from George Washington University. I moved to South Carolina to complete my general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship.

During my academic training, I became aware of the preventable differences in health outcomes faced by underserved communities. This realization fueled my passion for health equity. My master's program provided me with the necessary knowledge to counteract these inequalities. As a result, I was able to develop and implement a health disparities curriculum in conjunction with the Greenville psychiatry residency program. I am eager to share my passion for social justice and spread awareness wherever possible.
