The Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia Geriatrics Fellowship Program features outstanding clinical opportunities for training and expert faculty with experience from leading geriatrics programs across the United States within a new, state-of-the-art outpatient facility.
Training in geriatrics brings together an understanding of:

The changing patterns of presentation and progression of disease related to aging.
The unique geriatric syndromes.
Comprehensive interdisciplinary care.
Integrating function of disease-based management.
In addition, it provides a focus on functional status and its integration into the care process and holistic approach to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.
Fellows receive training from board-certified and fellowship-trained geriatricians in a variety of settings including short and long-term institutional care, ambulatory care, community-based care and well-elderly programs.
Educational debt forgiveness
The State of South Carolina has approved educational debt forgiveness for geriatricians agreeing to practice in the State of South Carolina for five years. Preference is given to those completing fellowship training in South Carolina.
