Hannah Anderson, DO

Hannah Anderson, DO

Hometown:  Wheatfield, IN

Medical school:  Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine

Residency:  University of Tennessee College of Medicine - Nashville

Non-medical interests:  Watching Georgia and SEC football, trying new restaurants, hiking, baking

Career goals:  I hope to practice in a community hospital in the Southeast, in a group setting with a mix of inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and ICU.  I would like to be involved with resident education in the future.

Why I chose Greenville:  This program seemed to fit well with my career goals, as well as the type of environment I was looking for within a fellowship program.  Everyone I spoke with during my interview process was very friendly and welcoming.  Although interviews were virtual, I felt like this program would fit me, my personality, and learning style well.

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Residency: OhioHealth Doctors Hospital Internal Medicine

Non medical interests: traveling, spending time with my family and friends, trying new restaurants and coffee shops.

Career goals: In my future career I hope to work in a practice that allows me to rotate between critical care medicine as well as inpatient and outpatient pulmonary medicine. I'd also like to continue to work with fellows, residents, and medical students.

Why I chose Greenville: I had an awesome interview and everyone I interacted with was so friendly and welcoming.  After my interview, I knew that the program and the people were a good fit for me and that Prisma Health would be a great place to train for my future career as a pulmonologist and intensivist.

Hometown:  West Lafayette, IN

Medical school:  Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Spartanburg, SC

Residency:  Carolinas Medical Center, Atrium Health, Charlotte, NC

Non-medical interests:  Woodworking, golf, soccer, skiing, hiking with our dog Tommy, watching Patriots/Purdue football

Career goals:  The core of my career goals is continuing to develop into a strong clinician and clinical educator.  I see myself remaining within academic medicine, as working with residents and fellows will allow me to grow as an educator and stay on top of pertinent medical advances as our field continues to evolve.  My clinical interests include interventional pulmonology, cardiac intensive care and ECMO.

Why I chose Greenville:  Deciding on Prisma Health and Greenville wasn't a difficult choice for my wife and me.  We had the pleasure of living in Greenville for three years during medical school and we love everything that this growing city has to offer.  During the interview process it was clear that Prisma Health offered many of the attributes I was looking for as I continue my training -- a small program size in a large hospital system, strong emphasis on clinical training and enthusiastic attending physicians who focus on teaching.  I'm excited about the opportunity to help mold a newer program into one that will attract great talent, and produce skilled pulmonary/critical care physicians.

Non medical interests: watching or playing sports (tennis, basketball, or football).

Career goals: My clinical interests would be a career in pulmonary hypertension while working in a tertiary center with fellows and residents.

Why I chose Greenville: I did residency here in Greenville and while training here it totally solidified my desire to pursue this career. The faculty here have trained all over the country from very prestigious institutions and have brought along the practices from these institutions. While rotating with the faculty here, I knew this was the program that would help me achieve my goals of becoming a pulmonary critical care physician

Haley Thompson, MD

Hometown:  Augusta, GA

Medical Education: Medical University of South Carolina

Residency: Prisma Health University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville, South Carolina

Non-medical interests:  On my days off, you can find me binging The Office or reading. My husband and I also love exploring Lake Jocassee and camping with our dogs during the cooler months.

Career goals:  As of right now, I want to spend most of my practice time in the MICU of a teaching hospital but we'll see what the next three years bring.

Why I chose Greenville: When interviewing for fellowship, I knew I wanted to train in a place with academic resources and opportunity but a community feel and that's Prisma in a nutshell. The faculty and staff really just can't be beat. As a resident here, I learned we also have an incredibly diverse patient population which is important to me. Training aside, I fell in love with the city of Greenville when I interviewed for residency several years ago and my time here has only reinforced that feeling. Greenville is home for my small family now.
