Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Columbia - How to Apply

Application information

Our program accepts applications through ERAS. ERAS opens July 1 each year for applications. We will participate in the National Resident Matching Program.

We like to review our applications the first week in August and interview in September and October of each year.

Eligibility

In addition to meeting any requirements specified in the Institutional Resident Eligibility policy, the applicants for the Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program must satisfy one of the following:

  • Be a graduate of an ACGME accredited internal medicine training program.
  • Be a graduate of an ABOM internal medicine training program.
  • Graduates of medical schools outside the US must have a valid certificate from Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
  • Physician trainees who are not citizens of the U.S. must have immigration authorization under the J-1 exchange visitor program.

Selection

  • Candidates will be chosen by the Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Selection Committee.
  • Only interviewed applicants will be considered for a position in the program. 
  • Each candidate is objectively evaluated based on their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, prior training, publications/grants/scholarly activity, communication skills, motivations, integrity, compassion, dignity, excellence and teamwork abilities.
  • Order of applicant rank is to be determined by the overall evaluation of the applicant based on the above criteria.
  • Characteristics such as sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or veteran status are not used in the selection procedure.
