Urologic Oncology Fellowship at University of South Carolina Greenville
Program overview
The Urologic Oncology Fellowship in the Upstate is a 1-year fellowship experience designed to train outstanding surgeons in both minimally invasive and open techniques. This unique program focuses on advanced and recurrent pelvic and retroperitoneal malignancies that are multidisciplinary in nature.
The fellowship offers experience in major open and robotic surgeries, plus opportunities to run their own independent clinic in a supervised environment. Fellows will take independent call with the group, plus have an option to moonlight as well.
Program details
The fellow will spend 4-5 days in the OR doing major open and robotic cases. The operative breakdown is typically 2 days of open surgery with 2-3 days of robotic surgery. The fellow will run their own independent 1/2-day clinic twice per month where they can book independent cases in a supervised environment.
Operative volume
- Cystectomy: 80-90 with 25% continent diversions
- Prostate: 250-275 prostatectomies
- Kidney: 150-200 radical and partial nephrectomy
- IVC thrombus: 6-10
- RPLND: 5-12
- Inguinal LND: 5-8
- Ureteral reconstruction: 10-15
- Co case HIPEC: 10-14
- RP and pelvic Sarcoma: 5-10
Independent call
The fellow will take independent call with the group and will have the option to moonlight to make additional income above their salary.
