Vascular Neurology Fellowship Columbia - How to Apply

Application information

Our program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for a one year program in Vascular Neurology and is listed with the American Medical Association Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database (FREIDA).

Two positions are available, at the PGY-5 level or above, for training in preparation for the Initial Certification in the Subspecialty of Vascular Neurology administered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Acceptance into the program requires graduation from a medical school approved by the Council on Graduate Medical Education of the AMA.  Foreign graduates must have a standard ECFMG certificate and be eligible for licensure in South Carolina. First-year fellow appointments are made through the matching plan of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

  • Three letters of reference (including one from the residency program director).
  • USMLE scores.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Copy of ECFMG Certificate (if applicable).

All application materials are received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The interview process involves:

  • Department schedules a one-night hotel accommodation at no cost to the applicant.
  • Interview day: meet with chairman and program director; interview with two faculty members; tour Prisma Health Richland Hospital; lunch with a vascular fellow.
