Prisma Health Department of Emergency Medicine University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville Underrepresented in Medicine Visiting Scholarship
Overview: We value and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion in medical education. Our department created this scholarship to encourage and promote medical students from underrepresented backgrounds who want to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine to complete a visiting elective at Prisma Health Emergency Department in Greenville, South Carolina.
The scholarship will provide reimbursement up to $1,750 and can be applied towards travel, application fees, and boarding expenses related to the EM Acting Intern rotation.
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled medical students applying for a fourth year Emergency Medicine Acting Internship at Prisma Health in Greenville, SC through VSAS
- Good academic standing at a U.S. accredited medical school
- Individuals belonging to a group defined as underrepresented in medicine (Black/African- American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian)
- U.S. Citizens or permanent residents
Requirements:
- Apply for the visiting Acting Internship in VSLO
- Submit a letter of intent up to 500 words sharing telling us about yourself, your career plans, and why you qualify for this scholarship. Please submit to our Clerkship Coordinator Jess Marke at Jessica.Marke@prismahealth.org. Applications will open on April 15 and will be accepted on a rolling basis
