Family Medicine Residency Greenville - Family Medicine Interest Group

What is FMIG?

Like other medical specialty interest groups prevalent on medical school campuses, the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) provides a forum for students interested in this particular area of medicine. FMIGs are student-run with oversight by a faculty advisor.

Mission

  1. Provide exposure for USC SOMG students to the field of Family Medicine, including subspecialties and fellowships. This may include, but is not limited to training requirements, lifestyle, job opportunities, and salaries.
  2. Create an environment where current Family Medicine residents and USC SOMG students pursuing family medicine can guide and mentor M1 and M2 students potentially interested in Family Medicine.
  3. Provide opportunities for FMIG members to attend local and national AAFP conferences, if they so desire.
  4. Expose current students to the clinical skills practiced by Family Medicine physicians, allowing them an opportunity to practice these skills.

Program Features

  • Cultivate their interests
  • Develop leadership potential
  • Get involved in community service
  • Engage in mentoring activities
  • Focus on their future careers in family medicine
