Xavier Alston, MD

Xavier Alston, MD

Xavier Alston is from Spotsylvania, Virginia, and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology, Environmental Studies, and Kinesiology at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. He worked as a medical scribe in a rural ER and a busy allergy and asthma clinic for 1 year prior to starting medical school at Ross University School of Medicine. Xavier is passionate about the full spectrum of Family Medicine with special interest in Hospital Medicine, Maternal Child Health, Preventative Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Alston enjoys playing all sports but more specifically basketball and baseball.  He also enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and kayaking with his wife, family, and friends.

Alex Marchek- Alex Marchek was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He left the state to major in Health Science at the University of Florida before returning to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Within medicine, his interests include sports medicine with an emphasis in ultrasound guided injections and lifestyle medicine. His free time is consumed by training as a competitive distance runner and fishing on Lake Keowee.

Alexis Almeida, MD

Alexis Almeida, MD

Alexis Almeida is from Bluffton, South Carolina. She received her bachelor's degree with a minor in psychology at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. After working as a medical assistant for three years she went on to earn her medical doctorate at Saint George’s University. Her interests include full-spectrum family medicine, women’s health and maternal-child medicine. She is thrilled to return home to South Carolina and complete her residency in the upstate. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, movies, cooking, traveling and trying new restaurants or events in the community.

Allison Parrill, MD

Allison Parrill is from Pasadena, Newfoundland, Canada. She received a bachelor's degree in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and her master's degree in medical education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before applying to medicine, Dr. Parrill finished the majority of nursing school. She earned her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten. Her passions within medicine include full scope rural family medicine, and medical research and medical education. Outside of medicine, she enjoys yoga, hiking, cooking, paddle boarding and adventures with her dog, Penny!

Tyler Raeford, DO

Tyler Raeford, DO

Tyler Raeford is from Buford, Georgia. He has a microbiology degree from the University of Georgia. His love for primary care grew while he volunteered and worked in Athens at Mercy Health Center, a non-profit whole-person care clinic, as the pharmacy coordinator. He received his master’s degree, concentrated in forensic medicine, from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Atlanta and remained at PCOM for medical school. Tyler is excited now to be in South Carolina taking care of rural Seneca and, specifically, his OB patients. Outside of the hospital he enjoys tennis, roller blading, aerial yoga and new restaurants; his goal is to visit all of the beautiful hikes and waterfalls nearby.

Rebekah Rowe, DO

Rebekah Rowe is originally from Pelion, South Carolina. She obtained her bachelor's degree in biology from Wofford College, and chose to stay in Spartanburg to attend Edward via College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. Rebekah is passionate about serving families throughout all stages of life and has special interests in dermatology, women’s health, and osteopathic manipulative therapy. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, hiking, yoga, and crafting.

Aliza Tess Williams is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee. She earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and her medical degree from Ohio University in Athens. She is passionate about the full spectrum of family medicine with special interests in sports medicine, contraceptive counseling, hospital medicine, lifestyle medicine and wellness. She played tennis competitively all through high school and college and continues to play during her free time. Dr. Williams also loves all things outdoors, including hiking and water skiing, and is very excited to be in an area abundant in both aspects. She is grateful for the opportunity to immerse herself in the community and continue her family medicine training.

Third-year residents

Ashley Famillion, MD

Ashley Famillion, MD

Ashley Famillion, a South Carolina native from Charleston, decided to come home after completing her bachelor’s in liberal arts at Soka University in Southern California, postbaccalaureate pre-med at John’s Hopkins University, and medical doctorate at Saint George’s University. She decided to pursue a career in medicine because of her passion for improving access to quality healthcare for all. Family medicine was the perfect specialty for her interests in population health and healthcare disparities. The broad-spectrum training unique to rural family medicine drew Ashley to the Seneca program. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, arts and crafts, and hiking with her wife and two dogs.

Nicole Gifford, MD

Nicole Gifford is from Ennismore, Ontario, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and played four years of Division 1 hockey at the University of New Hampshire. She earned her medical degree from Saint James School of Medicine in Anguilla and has special interests in full spectrum Family medicine as well as Sports medicine. In her free time, Dr. Gifford loves to play hockey, golf, and tennis, and she is always excited to travel somewhere new, try a new restaurant, or spend time with friends and family.

Neelam James is from Houston, TX and is excited to be in the beautiful S.C upstate area for her family medicine residency training . She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry at Austin College. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, SC. Neelam is passionate about the wide breadth of family medicine such as women’s health, preventive medicine, dermatology and osteopathic manipulative therapy. She appreciates the development of physician-patient relationships with all ages in family medicine. During her spare time she enjoys jogging, cooking Indian food, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Gunjan Patel is from Charlotte, NC and is excited to complete his residency training in Oconee County. He received a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas Campus in Spartanburg, SC. He is interested in supporting patients lead healthier lives through lifestyle medicine in order to prevent major health complications. In his spare time he enjoys, discovering new eateries, cooking new dishes and playing video games.

Trey Schumpert, MD

Trey Schumpert, MD

Trey Schumpert is originally from Fort Mill, SC. He went to Clemson University for his undergraduate education, where he majored in Biochemistry and met his wife, Emily. He then went to East Tennessee State University for medical school, where he was part of the Rural Primary Care Track and spent much of his time rotating at a two-bed hospital in rural Appalachia. His professional interests include wilderness medicine, sports medicine, and rural medicine. He and Emily are thrilled to be back in Upstate South Carolina and to be part of the family at Seneca FMR. In his free time, you can find him at a Clemson football game, going for a hike, or playing the banjo.

Cameron Swofford-Price grew up in Spartanburg, SC, and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. After working as a pharmacy technician and medical assistant for two years, he attended medical school in Cleveland, Ohio. His interests include preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, and LGBTQ+ inclusive primary care. Cameron and his husband are excited to return home to SC and explore all the upstate has to offer with their two dogs. His hobbies include hiking, reading, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
