Welcome to the Midlands of South Carolina

We are excited to be able to give you a glimpse into life as an internal medicine resident at Prisma Health/UofSC School of Medicine Columbia.

As a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia and this residency program myself, I am especially committed to providing an exceptional learning experience in a supportive, collegial environment. Our residents are our legacy to medicine and our future colleagues.

Prisma Health Richland Hospital is a teaching hospital with over 100 years of history in GME and is the primary clinical site for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia.

We are a tertiary referral center for the Midlands of South Carolina with a breadth of pathology that is full of learning opportunities for budding general internal medicine physicians and subspecialists. Our longitudinal ultrasound curriculum provides plenty of procedural opportunity throughout training. The resident outpatient primary care clinic is a certified Patient-Centered Medical Home with true interprofessional team-based care.

Our dedicated board preparation didactic curriculum has resulted in consistently high board pass rates for our graduates. While we are proud of the unique educational opportunities we offer, we are most invested in the community of residents who choose to train here – we value each one as an individual and we experience our greatest joys helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.
