What initially drew me to the program was my experience on the interview day. Besides the strong leadership, the program’s supportive environment truly stood out. Now being a resident here myself, I’m grateful for faculty and peers who not only have my back but also motivate me to reach my full potential. I have also been pleasantly surprised by Greenville and its diverse dining scene. The city’s blend of natural scenery and urban elegance, along with its warm and welcoming community, makes it a wonderful place to live.

I came to Greenville in 2022, while following my husband’ transfer at his workplace. But I fell in love with the city from the time I came, primarily due to its 4-season weather without any snow. Greenville is also an epicenter for several multinational companies’ US headquarters such as BMW, Michelin, Bosch and Lomb and many more that attract a variety of cultures from all over the world, especially European descents. I am grateful for this experience especially for my two middle schoolers. We have several international studies magnet schools owing to this diversity. I love light strolls with my children, add falls park right in the middle of the city is a perfect place for that. Multicultural cuisines are another plus in the city. We are avid travelers, and the comfort of a hassle-free airport is a boon. All in all, can call this place finally home!

What I found most appealing about this program is the residents, faculty, and staff I met during my interviews and second look. I felt like they were a group of people who I could really connect and grow with as I develop into the kind of physician I aim to be. I am so pleased to say that my intuitions are being exceeded. Additionally, I am so happy to be in Greenville and Upstate, South Carolina. The city is rich with cultural offerings and opportunities to find community. Greenville is also surrounded by natural resources and is a short drive from the Great Smoky Mountains.

The outdoor scene in Greenville is amazing! The city is conveniently located for a weekend trip to the beach or a day trip to the mountains. The food here is also so good! Ask anybody in town and they're readily give you a list of their favorite restaurants. As for the program, I love the sense of community that the residents have with each other. Our attendings are incredibly intelligent and willing to share their knowledge with residents. Most of all, everyone in the program has been so welcoming, I feel like this has made the transition from medical school to residency as easy as could be!

When I was looking for a residency program, I wanted a place that made me feel supported and challenged me to become the best that I can be. I truly think I found that in the Greer Neurology Program. The attendings really care about your learning and interests. The staff and residents are extremely welcoming and helpful. We have a great mixture of inpatient and outpatient neurology as well as a strong didactic program. The cherry on top is getting to live in Greenville, SC! Greenville has a small-town feel with big-city perks, and is an easy drive to Asheville, Charlotte, or the beach for a weekend trip!

Prisma Health stood out to me for all the right reasons, from its welcoming work environment to its state-of-the-art neurology and stroke center. Located in Greenville, with its vibrant community, it closely resembles my environment back home and aligns perfectly with where I have always envisioned building my career.

Prisma health/U of SC neurology was one of several away rotations that I completed during my final year of medical school. This program impressed me with its focus on exposing residents to the full breadth of neurology. Early and frequent rotations in all the neurologic sub-specialties allows residents here to make an informed decision about fellowship and career goals. The leadership at this program has built a culture that encourages resident cooperation and faculty mentorship. The neurology program is relatively new but there is a long history of graduate medical education here on site. This means that the neurology program has the benefits of innovation and a modern approach to neurology training along with the depth and resources of a well-established program. Those like myself who are undecided about ultimate career goals will be drawn to how training here will prepare you to be a strong general neurologist with the skills to practice immediately out of residency or make you a competitive candidate for fellowships of all kinds.

In addition to the excellent training, the location is impossible to beat. Greenville and its suburbs are a special place in the county. As someone who as lived in California, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and now South Carolina I can say with confidence that it would be difficult to find another city with such a perfect mix of modern urban amenities, well planned greenspaces, and proximity to world-class nature all with a very reasonable cost of living. I’m happy to complete this important phase of my training here and look forward to meeting the lucky residents that will fill the classes behind me.

What initially drew me to this program was the profound sense of connection I felt among the residents, faculty, and staff. The beautiful city of Greenville, with its unique proximity to rural areas and the stunning Blue Ridge mountains, added to the allure. As someone who enjoys nature and the arts, Greenville provides a unique downtown area with scenic trails for walking, as well as a vibrant arts scene, but is also a short weekend trip to the mountains, which makes it an ideal place to call home. The food options are also unlimited, and I love to try different restaurants.

My favorite aspect of the program is the nourishing learning environment leadership and co-residents provide, and the unwavering commitment to resident wellness that is embraced by our dedicated faculty, staff, and fellow residents. The attendings here are eager to teach, approachable, and provide feedback in real time, in a manner that is exceptionally conducive to learning, all while delivering patient-centered care that goes above and beyond.  There is a strong sense of community; the warmth and support that enveloped me in this program are simply remarkable and will help my growth both personally and professionally. I am incredibly grateful and proud to be a part of this program and community."

I love being here in Greenville, SC so much that I stayed after medical school! It's a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a (fur) family. I spend my weekends on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, playing volleyball, or cozied up with a nonfiction book. And I do it surrounded by beautiful mountains and greenery that reminds me of home.

This program is unique in that it provides the close intrapersonal relationships of a community program and the rigor and opportunities of an academic program. I’ve loved working with attendings from across almost every neurological subspecialty who are experts in their field. Our leadership is personable, dedicated, and passionate about growing the next generation of neurologist. And our residents are some of the most intelligent and friendliest you’ll find!

One of my favorite things about Greenville is the small town feel with access to bigger city amenities. There is never a shortage of new places to eat, and always something fun to do in the beautiful downtown area. I enjoy exploring the surrounding area for hidden gems, which seem to be around every corner.

My main draw to the program was the smaller community feel in a bigger academic setting, which provides a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow. The residency program here truly feels like a family and has been warm and inviting since day one. Faculty and staff are always supportive and dedicated to helping you learn and grow.

Greenville is a beautiful city. The first thing you notice when you're driving down the highway getting closer to downtown is all the well-kept trees and other greenery. The downtown area and Falls Park are picturesque with lots of good food and events. Having a waterfall in the middle of the city is something else, too. On top of all that, everyone I've met has been friendly and welcoming, and I ultimately believe I've ended up with the best coworkers and coresidents I could've possibly asked for.

Loving the outdoors, Greenville, SC has provided so many opportunities to explore. Hiking around the blue ridge mountains, a weekend trip to Asheville or paddle boarding on Lake Jocassee, there are plenty of things to see and do around the area. What I love most, however, is the liveliness of the city and the kindness of people here. The kindness of everyone I met during my interview here and the program’s commitment to resident education was what solidified my choice of coming to complete my neurology residency here.

One of my favorite parts of living in Greenville, South Carolina, is its cultural diversity, cuisine and friendliness of the people. It is enriched with beautiful fauna and flora. During my free time, I have had the opportunity to explore nature closely via hiking and have contemplated the beautiful landscapes this area has to offer.

The program highlights are its dedicated teaching faculty, state of the art technology, and its holistic patient care approach. Furthermore, I value deeply how caring everyone is including its faculty, staff, and co-residents and how supportive the environment is in promoting wellness. Altogether, it fosters a fun, exciting, and pleasant learning environment. I feel honored to be part of an amazing team of neurologists.

My favorite parts of the program are the leadership team and the coresidents. I have found since the beginning of my training here that they always go the extra mile to promote resident wellbeing and creating an environment that reinforces learning and professional growth. The faculty here cultivates an warm and welcoming atmosphere, that makes sure we all have our questions answered. Outside the residency program, I have found living in Greenville upstate to be the perfect balance of a small town with big city vibes. We get to enjoy the hospitality that comes with being in a small town, while at the same time getting all the advantages of a big city as well. Over the last couple of months my husband and I have enjoyed visiting the nearby lakes and state parks, as well as spent lovely afternoons shopping and dining in the downtown. I am very excited to be here, and I look forward to advancing my training here.

I have been in the Greenville area for a few years now and I have loved living here. Downtown Greenville has so much to offer and is quickly expanding. There is a good variety of greenspace, restaurants, and shops in the downtown and surrounding area. I liked this program because everyone was so welcoming, and I could tell that this was an environment with genuine support to help my growth as a physician. There is a big emphasis on resident well-being and good dialogue surrounding wellness within the program which I appreciate. So far in my training, I have found that the attendings are easy to talk to, very accessible, and excited to teach. This program creates a comfortable environment to learn and grow in while allowing you to develop into the physician you want to be. The group of residents here are genuine, curious, and passionate which forms an awesome environment to work in.

I love that the program here is truly supportive of its residents, not just as learners but as people. They recognize that we best serve our patients when we are whole and well. Everyone is genuinely excited and passionate about neurology and committed to helping residents excel. I also love the friendships and comradery I have developed with my co-residents, both in neurology and internal medicine.  It is invaluable to have colleagues I not only enjoy working with, but with whom I can spend time with outside of work. Asheville is only an hour away and, as an avid hiker, I really appreciate how easily I can find a trail, from Paris Mountain to Pisgah in western NC. The city of Greenville itself offers so much --- yoga, pottery classes, bookstores, and so many restaurants to choose from. Lastly, I value the diversity in our program. As someone who is passionate about mitigating health disparities, we must aim to reflect the diversity in our patient population in our providers.

Living in South Carolina has been quite charming and I find it to be a fabulous place. I believe that there is a tactful balance of city life and captivating natural scenery. I enjoy exploring Greenville’s farmer’s markets, artisanal breweries, diverse restaurants and seasonal festivals. One of my favorite things to do here is to explore nature with hiking trails, waterfalls, or walking by Swamp Rabbit after a long day. I am delighted to be part of the Neurology residency program at Prisma Health. I value tremendously the team’s vast disposition to teach in a supported environment conducive of learning. The dynamics are uplifting and constructive which help keep motivation afloat. Lastly, I love having a myriad of cases; it keeps each day very unique and interesting!

When I was looking for a place to do my residency, one of the most important things for me was to find a place where I could develop my skills in a peaceful and kind environment. This is what I felt during my interview with Dr. Choudhary, the faculty and the residents. After being here now I can say this is precisely what I was expecting. Everybody has been beyond kind. All the attendings are eager to teach and help you to develop your clinical skills and rational thinking. Besides all this, Greenville is a beautiful city that keeps growing with many green areas and beautiful weather.

I love this program because I feel that the leadership and coresidents have a genuine desire to create a healthy and effective learning environment. I am so thankful that my program leads and attendings work hard to create a team environment that reinforced learning amongst all the members. I have found since starting my training here that my coresidents and attendings frequently go the extra mile not only to promote effective learning but to provide excellent patient care. Outside of the neurology program I have found living in Greenville to be the perfect balance of outdoor and city living. I have already had the opportunity to enjoy many hikes, river floats and gorgeous mountain views as well as spent several afternoons shopping and eating in the downtown Greenville area. Overall, both the residency program and Greenville area has proven to be a wonderful fit with an excellent teaching environment and endless opportunities for extracurricular activities as well

I relocated to Greenville due to my husband’s job more than a year ago. I fell in love with this place due to the people, weather prospects all year, and plenty of outdoor activities available to participate for adults and children. As a neuroscience aspirant, I joined the neurosciences institute as a research intern and worked in the movement disorders clinic with our chairman. The staff is caring and professional. The learning environment on the clinic and inpatient side is very conducive for training residents. The teaching faculty is diverse from different subspecialties came from different training backgrounds and has a passion for teaching and mentoring medical students and residents while making sure there is a good work-life balance. The curriculum was thoughtfully laid out with daily noon conferences, mortality and morbidity meetings, monthly grand rounds. Greenville is small in area but got many advantages with regards to recreational activities, dining, access to major airports making it a great place to do a residency.

I like how everyone is friendly and warm in the area, it definitely shows the Southern hospitality.  Downtown Greenville has a great food scene and it's fun to take a walk along Falls Park. My favorite thing to do is biking along the Swamp Rabbit Trail and at the end of my ride getting a cup of coffee at my favorite downtown coffee shop.   Also, there are other cities close by if you want to take weekend trips like Asheville or Charlotte and there's plenty of outdoor activities to do in the area.

Our program's faculty advocates for the residents and constantly supports our well-being and professional growth, and we all have a special bond as a family. I'm really grateful and happy to be training at Prisma.

I chose USCOM Neurology program at Greenville because of its location and excellent faculty. While I was interviewing, I knew I wanted to live in the south-east but also wanted to be in a program that focuses both on resident wellness and reinforce learning environment for residents. During my interview process I realized this program has great camaraderie among residents and faculty. Residents and faculty also came across as friendly and easy to talk to, most importantly faculty was very transparent. I was also excited to be part of a growing program that has a vast scope for development in the future. This will serve me as a motivation to both grow with the program as well as work on my professional growth. Outside of the program strengths, location itself was the biggest decision maker for me as I like to spend time outdoors.  Greenville fits with my idea of outdoors which includes enjoying nature, eating at diverse restaurants and multiple hiking spots which allows me to spend quality time with my family. I am happy that I matched into this program, as faculty here are so invested in program and resident growth and they constantly provide feedback which allows me to improve personally and professionally.

There are many factors that come into play while choosing the perfect residency program to train at. For me, Prisma Health Upstate stood out amongst all the other programs I had interviewed with. The thought and detail that was put into every aspect of the interview process at Prisma Health was impressive. I got the sense right of the bat that this program was dedicated and at the end of the day, all signs pointed to Greenville/Greer. Everyone I had met spoke with such passion and it was clear to me that this is a program that truly wants their residents to be happy and successful. Which leads me to my next point, the resident wellness and work-life balance at Prisma Health makes it possible to raise a family while also receiving extraordinary training. I would be remiss if I did not mention all the beautiful trails and scenery that the upstate offers. Being an outdoorsy individual, living in beautiful Greenville and charming Greer; just a short drive from mountain ranges, waterfalls, hikes, biking trails, rafting, rock climbing, etc. is the environment that my family and I could thrive in. The support and camaraderie that all the faculty at Prisma Health Neurology demonstrates makes me excited to be a part of a growing program for my residency training.

My initial draw to the program derived from a connection I felt to the faculty and residents. It became clear that this is a place that values learning, fosters collaboration, and supports resident well-being. Having completed my first year of training I can confidently say my initial impression was reflected in my experiences. Whether navigating patient care, hanging out with fellow residents, or exploring the outdoors I felt at home. Greenville has a wonderful balance of city life overlayed on a calm southern foundation, which creates space for activities that are varied and broad.  Whether taking day trips to Myrtle beach, visiting nearby towns, or exploring the outdoors there are an abundance of things to do to occupy oneself. I have found this program to be an excellent personal and professional fit.
