Ophthalmology Residency Columbia - How to Apply

Application information

Applications for our residency training program are only accepted through the Central Application Service.

Application requirements include college and medical school transcripts, three letters of recommendation (preferably two from ophthalmologists), and a letter of recommendation from the dean of your medical school. Applications will be reviewed as soon as all other materials are received. International medical school graduates must provide certification from the International Medical Graduate Examination in the Medical Sciences (IMGEMS) and the ECFMG English Test. Please see the IMG policy in the resident manual on the home page of the residency programs website.

A selection committee will review all completed applications received before the deadline and emails will be sent to all applicants indicating whether or not they have been selected for interview. Any applications not completed by the designated deadline will not be reviewed. Interviews are usually held the first Friday and Saturday in December. Approximately 30 applicants are invited to interview with the faculty. When we transition back to in person interviews, the applicants will meet with all the residents and go on various tours. There also are informal resident get-togethers the night before interviews. Applicants are notified through the Central Application Service Ophthalmology Match Program regarding the results of the selection process.  PLEASE NOTE WE ARE STILL DOING VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS.
