Orthopedic Surgery Residency Columbia - How to Apply

Application information

Visiting student acting internship

One-month acting internship rotations are available for visiting students every June through December. Applications are accepted through VSLO starting March 15 of each year, and must include an academic transcript, USMLE Step 1 transcript, and brief (<500 words) statement of interest in the program.  Applicants requesting weeks off cycle to those being offered will be considered, however, priority will be given to on-cycle applicants.

Residency program

Application to the orthopedic residency program is processed through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We require a complete ERAS application to include three letters of recommendation, one of which must be a chairman or program director. It is perfectly acceptable to include extra information with your ERAS application, as well as additional letters of recommendation, as long as they can be included through the ERAS program. Please do not send additional information outside of your ERAS application.

We begin reviewing applications once Dean’s letters become available in early October, and typically send interview invitations in late October. We will have two interview dates, both in early December, and host a meet-and-greet in the evening prior to interview dates at a local restaurant.
