At Prisma Health, our Pediatric Residency Program in Columbia provides an educational environment focused on comprehensive pediatric care, directed by academic pediatric providers in a variety of locations.
Whether in pediatric primary care, specialty clinics or in the emergency room, our residents are given a wide variety of learning opportunities.
Our program is fortunate to offer trainees a variety of different experiences within our hospital system both on campus and off. Some of the highlights of our facilities include:
- Referral center for a 17-county region including Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, treating more than 175,000 infants and children annually.
- A 65-bed Level III NICU with approximately 800 admissions annually.
- A dedicated pediatric emergency department.
- The state’s only federally qualified hemophilia center.
- The largest comprehensive sickle cell care center in South Carolina.
- The only primary ciliary dyskinesia center in South Carolina, one of 50 worldwide.
- A national children’s cystic fibrosis center, one of only three in South Carolina.
- The state’s first pediatric antimicrobial stewardship program.
- The southeast region tourette center of excellence.
- Participating in outreach clinics in rural areas while on subspecialty electives.
- Only multidisciplinary tuberous sclerosis clinic in South Carolina.
