Class of 2024

Jake Andrews, DO

Jake Andrews, DO

Medical School:  Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Carolinas Campus

About Jake:  Jake was born in Jacksonville, FL but grew up in Atlanta, GA.  Strong family ties to the Midwest drew him to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE where he majored in biology.  After graduating, he returned to the South and settled in the mountains of North Carolina where he worked as a substitute teacher.  In college, he spent four summers at Victory Junction, a summer camp for kids with chronic illnesses, in Randleman, NC.  He continued his education at VCOM-Carolinas in Spartanburg, SC.  Jake loves to make his way back to the mountains to hike as well as ski in the winter.  While the weather is warm, he loves spending time on the lake relaxing and participating in watersports.  He is also a huge college football fan and is excited to be cheering for the Gamecocks this fall!

About Max:  Max was born in Mount Sterling, KY.  He pursured his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky and attended medical school there as well.  He enjoys the outdoors, watching sports, playing trivia, exploring brewries and coffee shops, and he loves a good pizza.  He is very happy he made the decision to move to Columbia, and is looking forward to another great year surrounded by a fantastic team here at Prisma.

About Chris:  Chris grew up in Graniteville, South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina for his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. He stayed in Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and then decided to hit the trifecta and join the Prisma Health – Midlands Pediatrics residency program family!  In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, watching movies or playing video games, and spending time with his wife Haley and daughter Ellie! You may see him out shopping with his family, trying all the great restaurants Columbia has to offer, or out playing trivia with his co-residents!

Noah Christian, MD

Medical School:  Sidney Kimmel Medical College

About Noah:  Noah Christian was raised in rural Delaware. He comes from a family of 7 plus many foster children. He graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah, served a 2-year humanitarian mission in Colorado/Kansas, and worked in an Arizonan desert ER before attending medical school at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He met his wife in the city of Brotherly Love at a church BBQ, and they decided to come to South Carolina for the kind people, weather, cost of living, and new, outdoor adventures. Noah enjoys movies, Philadelphia sports (Go Phils, Go Birds), and mowing the lawn. He plays the bagpipes and dabbles on the piano. He has welcomed a son and a dog into the family since beginning residency. Noah loves the weather, cute day trips across the South, and his fellow residents. He is currently applying to Pediatric Pulmonology fellowships.

About Elizabeth:  Elizabeth is a Florida native, born and raised in Panama City.  She graduated from Florida State University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and loved FSU so much she decided to stay for four more years (Go Noles!)  She graduated in 2021 from the Florida State University College of Medicine and was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.  Elizabeth and her husband, Hunter, love spending time with their son, exploring the delicious restaurants Columbia has to offer, and walking with their dog on the Riverwalk.  Elizabeth is pursuing a career in general pediatrics.

About Milap:  Milap was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He completed his undergraduate degree at Clemson University where he received his bachelor’s in Microbiology with a minor in Biological Sciences. He then completed his medical degree at USC School of Medicine. He found the love of his life, Samantha, in Columbia and got married shortly after graduating medical school. He also fell in love with the program and amazing faculty at the Children’s Hospital, and from then it clear where he was meant to be for residency. Milap enjoys playing board games, hiking through South Carolina’s state parks, and exploring all the restaurants the city has to offer. He is dedicated to serving our community and a proud member of the Prisma Health Pediatric family!

About Sonal:  Sonal was born and raised in Columbia, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2016. She graduated from University of South Carolina School of Medicine – Columbia in 2021. Sonal is a forever Carolina girl (Go Gamecocks!). Sonal loves to dance - she has been involved in Indian dance since she was 7 years old. In her free time, Sonal loves watching any kind of reality tv show, spending time with friends and family, and cooking/eating good food. Sonal loves spending time with her fellow co-residents. She loves being a part of this great big pediatric family!

About Alyssah:  Alyssah is originally from central Pennsylvania where she was raised in a small farm town called Belleville. She graduated from Penn State University (We Are!!) with a B.S. in Psychology and then completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Philadelphia. She loves the incredible family here at Prisma Health / USC and has appreciated the continuous support during this season. In her free time, you can find Alyssah spending time with her husband, at her church (GraceLife is beyond amazing!!!), traveling to GA to visit her family, or spending time with her co-resident family! After her three years here in Columbia, Alyssah plans on moving back home to Georgia with dreams to incorporate global health into her future practice.

About Katie:  Katie grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, on seafood, sunshine and the beach. She attended Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, (Go Tigers!) where she hiked many a mountain, was captain of the dance team, and spent lots of sunny afternoons on Lake Hartwell. She ventured into enemy territory to attend University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia, where she fell in love with the pediatrics program and hoped she could stay here for residency (great news, it was a match!). In her free time, Katie loves taking her 4-year-old Australian Shepherd to the riverwalk, yoga, spending time with friends and family and finding the best margarita in Columbia. She also choreographs for different dance studios across South Carolina and Georgia for their competitive companies and is invited to lead technique master classes every year. She is very passionate about the people and the program we have here at Prisma Health!

About Kalyani:  Kalyani is originally from India and completed her medical degree from Siddhartha Medical College, India. She loves spending time with her husband, family and friends. In her free time she enjoys traveling and cooking.

About Charlotte:  Charlotte attended Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, where she received her biochemistry degree with a minor in psychology. For her medical degree she decided to head to Columbia at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She enjoys playing the drums and has a passion for taking care of dogs. She has fostered 12 and set up adoptions for all for them.

About Katie:  Katie is originally from Decatur, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate degree at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry with a minor in psychology. She then moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to complete her medical degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She loved it so much she wanted to stay in South Carolina to pursue pediatrics. She loves spending time with her husband, infant daughter Isla and two corgis Leo and Loki. Her free time is usually spent outdoors and trying new restaurants and shopping! 

Shelby Droege, DO

About Shelby:  Shelby is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma with a major in biology and a minor in French. She then completed her medical education in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Shelby and her husband, Dylan, and their two dachshunds, Rosie and Zenzi, have loved exploring Columbia since starting residency.  She loves attending Fireflies baseball games, enjoying dinner on the Tazza Kitchen patio, reading love stories and fantasies, and watching all things on reality tv.  Shelby is pursuing a career in General Pediatrics and is so grateful for the strong training our residents receive to provide the best possible care for the children of Columbia.

About Annalise:  Annalise completed their undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville before working for multiple non-profit organizations across the state. Annalise recently moved to Columbia from Memphis, where they received their medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

About Alex:  Alex was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in Spanish. She then completed medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson before starting her residency training at Prisma Health in Columbia.

Alex enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, chasing after their toddler, Oliver, and going on walks with their dog, Bits. She is excited to have joined the Prisma Health family and to be taking care of the children of South Carolina!

About Laura:  Laura is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine’s BA/MD Program with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. In her free time, Laura enjoys watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette, spending time outdoors, and exploring new restaurants and breweries around Columbia with her fiancĂ©, Brooks.

About Hala:  Hala was born in Bahrain and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for her bachelor’s degree in bioscience and integrative health, where she enjoyed teaching dance fitness. She lived in Manhattan, New York City, for one year before attending medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University in her home state. Hala loves the palmettos in South Carolina because they remind her of the date palm trees in Bahrain. She enjoys road biking and traveling.

About Juliana:  Juliana is originally from Mooresville, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a degree in biology and minors in chemistry and neuroscience. She then moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to complete her medical degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Carolinas Campus. She loves spending time with her friends and family, cheering on the Tar Heels and doing outdoors activities, especially exploring new restaurants, parks, and zoos!

About Megan:  Fort Mill, South Carolina, is home to Megan. She received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and attended medical school in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Carolinas Campus. She enjoys playing the guitar and the piano.  She has a love for writing music and mixing soundtracks for events. You can also find her on the tennis and volleyball courts.

About Brittany:  Brittany was born and raised in West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown with a degree in biomedical engineering and then went to Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine for medical school.  Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching all types of sports (specifically WVU sports - Let’s Go Mountaineers!), and trying out different restaurants and breweries. She is ecstatic to join the Prisma Health Pediatrics team and looks forward to all that Columbia has to offer!

About Kayla:  Kayla is originally from northeast Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, prior to completing her medical degree at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. She enjoys cafeteria lunch dates with her husband, Gunnar, who is a general surgery resident here at Prisma Health! Kayla enjoys traveling and exploring Columbia in her free time and is excited about this upcoming year as a new member of Prisma Health Pediatrics.

About Krista:  Krista was born and raised in Michigan. She completed her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University in East Lansing, where she received her bachelor’s degree with honors in human biology and a minor in economics. Young continued her education at her alma mater, receiving her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, while at the same time receiving her certification as a lactation counselor. She is very excited to escape the winter for a few years while she completes her residency in Columbia. She loves spending time with her husband and two very energetic Australian Shepherds. In her free time, you can find her embracing her inner foodie, catching a hockey game, or planning her next vacation.

About Brina:  Bryna is from Navarre, Florida, a small beach town on the Gulf Coast. She is the second oldest of 7 siblings, and loves having a big family! She studied Biology and Technical Theatre at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and continued medical school at NSU-KPCOM. Bryna enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, listening to loud music, and being outdoors. She and her fiancĂ©, Alejandro, are very excited to get married in this beautiful state next year, and to start a new adventure in Columbia!

About Lauren:  Lauren was born and raised in North Georgia.  She attended Augusta University where she received a bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology.  She went on to receive her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  In her free time, Lauren enjoys exploring local coffee shops and going on hikes with her husband, Joseph, and Saint Benard pup, Bailey.  She also enjoys traveling and gardening.

About Laurel:  Laurel grew up in Florida and attended Florida State University.  She then moved to Alabama for medical school.  She constantly talks about her dog, Thor.  She enjoys taking walks with Thor, going to beaches/lakes, and buying everything from Trader Joe's.

About Dallin:  Dallin is originally from Logan, Utah.  He served a 2-year humanitarian mission for his church in Hungary.  He then completed his undergraduate degree at Utah State University while working as a pharmacy technician.  Dallin moved to Tennessee to complete medical school at Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dallin moved to Columbia with his wife, Jennifer, and their three kids.  Their oldest will be going into first grade this year.  Dallin loves spending time with his family, including going to the park, pool, and all of the amzaing libraries in Columbia.  He also enjoys most sports, especially basketball, tennis, and volleyball.  He and his wife enjoy playing pickleball together.  He is also an avid NBA fan.

About Megan:  Megan is originally from Henderson, North Carolina but calls Raleigh home. She attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and then went to Campbell University for medical school. In her free time she loves to read, spend time with her husband, and go on walks with her energetic Aussiedoodle, Luka. She is also a huge NCSU fan and cheers on her alma mater during basketball and football season. Go Pack!

About Rachel:  Rachel was born and raised right here in Columbia. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Presbyterian College and came back to Columbia to attend medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She enjoys reading, going on walks with friends, experimenting with new smoothie recipes and traveling. She feels very lucky to be part of such a supportive training program!

About Sydney: Sydney was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up just outside of Scranton, PA. She graduated from the University of Delaware, where she studied both English and Biology. Sydney was also a member of the Varsity Women’s Rowing Team while at UD. Following college, she earned her medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys staying active, watching Pittsburgh sports, and spending time with her friends, family, and boyfriend Kyle, who is also a resident at Prisma Health. Sydney has loved moving to Columbia where she is enjoying the hospitality, Soda City market on Saturday mornings, and is anticipating experiencing mild winters!

About Sara:  Sara was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Dayton and attended medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.  Excited about the sunshine and Prisma Health Midlands, Sara decided to move much farther away from home for her pediatrics residency!  In her free time, Sara loves exploring all the Riverwalk trails, reading on the porch with her cats Luna and Steve, and discovering new breweries and restaurants in Columbia.

About Robert:  Robert is from Mandeville, Louisiana. He attended Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia where he received an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and graduate degree in healthcare management. He returned to Louisiana for medical school at LSU Health-Shreveport. In his free time, Robert enjoys trying new restaurants with his wife Rachel, watching football and soccer, and traveling.

About Emily:  Emily is originally from Charlotte, NC.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Cell/Molecular Biology at Appalachian State University.  After that she spent a year as a Certified Nurse Assistant working with patients on a Cardiac Step-Down Unit.  For medical school, she moved to Spartanburg, SC to attend Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and fell in love with Pediatrics.  In her free time, Emily enjoys cooking, walking or running on the Riverwalk, trivia nights, and spending time with loved ones (including her rescued Pomeranian mix named Bubba).  She is ecstatic to join the Prisma Health family and looks forward to all that Columbia has to offer!

When not at work, Alexis could be found either chasing after her puppy, Bishop, watching college sports (love basketball!), or wandering through Barnes & Noble for another book to add to the never-ending TBR list. She also enjoys running on the riverwalk trails or going to OTF.
