Pediatrics Residency Columbia - Chief Residents

Meet our chief residents

The Prisma Health Pediatrics Residency Program in Columbia has two chief residents this academic year, Max Baker, MD and Katie Taylor, MD.

Our third-year pediatric chief residents work closely with residents and program leadership to raise ideas and thoughts pertinent to today's trainee. By having third-year chief residents, our program has ready access to those that are living through residency today and can respond to the needs of residents.

Each spring, chief residents are elected by their peers to serve the following academic year. Applicants are encouraged to contact either of these program leaders about anything pertaining to our pediatric program.

Katie Taylor, MD

Katie Taylor, MD

Medical School:  University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia

About Katie:  Katie grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, on seafood, sunshine and the beach. She attended Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, (Go Tigers!) where she hiked many a mountain, was captain of the dance team, and spent lots of sunny afternoons on Lake Hartwell. She ventured into enemy territory to attend University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia, where she fell in love with the pediatrics program and hoped she could stay here for residency (great news, it was a match!). In her free time, Katie loves taking her 4-year-old Australian Shepherd to the riverwalk, yoga, spending time with friends and family and finding the best margarita in Columbia. She also choreographs for different dance studios across South Carolina and Georgia for their competitive companies and is invited to lead technique master classes every year. She is very passionate about the people and the program we have here at Prisma Health!
