Plastic Surgery Residency Columbia - How to Apply

Application information

Candidates for the Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia Plastic Surgery Residency Program should complete the application process through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Submissions of applications will begin in September of each year and applications are accepted through the end of December.

Interviews are conducted from mid-October through mid-December. If needed, we may open an additional interview date in January. You should have the following in place when applying:

  • Transcript.
  • National Board scores (Steps 1 and 2) of at least 230.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Letter from the dean.

International/Foreign Medical Graduates are welcome to apply, but you must be a US citizen. Our program offers one categorical position. We do not limit acceptance based on a candidate's year of graduation. The residency selection committee reviews preliminary data and extends selected candidates an invitation to visit the Prisma Health Richland Hospital/University of South Carolina campus for a personal interview.

After interviews are completed, the Department of Plastic Surgery faculty makes its selection based on many facets of the candidate's performance and submits a rank-ordered list to the National Resident Matching Program.
