Our residency training program offers opportunities for academic and professional growth. We have gained a reputation as a high-quality, medium-sized program that promotes individual opportunities for residents to explore their professional interests. We aim to graduate psychiatrists who are compassionate physicians that provide exceptional patient care, and are also knowledgeable in clinical research, teaching, and systems development.

Originally established in 1963, our program has a strong history of training psychiatrists and serving patients with mental illness in the midlands area and surrounding communities. The diversity of our training sites and early exposure to subspecialties, psychotherapy, and outpatient psychiatry are unique. The family atmosphere created by our extraordinary faculty, residents, fellows, and staff makes Prisma Health’s psychiatry residency program in Columbia such a great place to work.
