Prisma Health Marshall I. Pickens hospital is an acute psychiatric hospital for patients in crisis. There are dedicated units for adult patients (24 beds), geriatric patients (10 beds), and child and adolescent patients (9 beds). There is also an intensive management unit (9 beds). Patients are treated by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, social workers, nurses, pharmacists, mental health technicians, utilization review, and other disciplines as needed. Residents have the opportunity to lead this group in regular treatment team meetings. Patients benefit from pharmacological as well as individual and group therapeutic interventions. Patients are also able to receive ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) on campus if needed.
Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Psychiatry Services
Adult Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Services at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital are part of the comprehensive health, behavioral health and wellness services available at Prisma Health. For adults who require intensive outpatient behavioral health services, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs provide a variety of therapeutic interventions related to major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that help individuals work toward their wellness. In addition to the general program described above, a Substance Use and Co-Occurring Intensive Outpatient Program was started in June 2024 and provides therapeutic services to individuals with active substance use disorders and co-occuring psychiatric illnesses.
