What is a Sponsored Program?
A sponsored program is a project designed to achieve a purpose or objective under specified conditions that is funded by an external organization under a legal relationship. Sponsored programs are defined in several ways:
- The funding mechanism can be in the form of a grant agreement, contract, or cooperative agreement.
- A sponsored program can be funded by federal, state and local governments or private corporations or foundations.
- A sponsored program is classified as research, instruction, or other sponsored activity. Other sponsored activity includes community programs, health services programs, support for our fellowship and residency programs, and more.
Per patient reimbursement clinical trials, while still a sponsored program, are managed by the Clinical Research Management Office.
Gifts, funds provided by donors with no details budget or scope of work, are managed by the Office of Philanthropy or Midlands Foundation.
