Program Director

While I was born in India, my parents immigrated here during my years in school. I have been a hospitalist at Prisma Health in the Upstate for about five years.

Aside from bedside teaching, the aspects of hospital medicine I am most interested in are bedside procedures and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). I also serve as the director of clinical success for the Internal Medicine residency.

My wife and I both trained in Michigan and moved down here to enjoy the warmer, milder weather.  When I am away from the hospital, I spend a lot of time on the golf course as a way to relax. I also enjoy cooking, playing tennis and biking.

Medical school: Andhra Medical College, India.

Residency: St Joseph Mercy, Michigan

Interests and hobbies: Golf, cooking, tennis, biking. I also love exploring new restaurants.

I am an attending physician in the department of Hospital Medicine at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca.

I am originally from India, but I have lived in North America for much of a decade. Between times pent on the West Coast to living here in the East, I’ve seen a lot of America. I pursued a master's in Global Health and Human Services Administration in Vancouver, Canada, and then I earned research experience in hematology/oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Subsequently, I did my residency in Internal Medicine in Rome, Georgia.

I really liked Southern culture and its hospitality, so my wife and I decided to stay in the south. Greenville, SC, was the best option among all the places that I interviewed at for the hospitalist position.

When I am not at work, I try to explore new places with my wife. We were recently blessed with a baby boy, Aariv. The birth of our son changed my life overnight! My life revolves around him now when I am home.

Moreover, I believe in good physical and mental health and thus I practice yoga to improve my flexibility and focus. I also practice taekwondo whenever possible.

Hometown: Greenville, SC, is my hometown now (I grew up in Ahmedabad, India)

Medical school: Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad, India

Residency: Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome, GA

Interests and hobbies: Traveling, listening to music, cricket, watching movies with my family, taekwondo.

I’m originally from Lebanon, though I grew up in the Republic of Panama where I went to medical school and met my wife, Cristina.

We both completed our internal medicine residencies in Michigan, but our search for warmer weather brought us to South Carolina. We fell in love with Greenville from day one and have been proud to call this amazing place home for over a decade. We have two daughters and the sweetest mini golden doodle that keep us busy but make life a blast.

When off work, we like to enjoy downtown Greenville as well as the lakes, mountains and beaches that are within an easy drive. I am hopelessly addicted to coffee, and my obsession with real estate keeps my wife on her toes.

During my down time, I like to experiment with new food recipes at the expense of my wife and kids.  Fortunately, our dog Max is always there to devour my failed attempts and make me feel better. I am yet to fulfill my quest to replicate the perfect Neapolitan pizza, but I will get there one day.

Medical school: Universidad Latina de Panama

Residency: St Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Interests and hobbies: EMR, process improvement, procedures, guitar, and woodworking.
