Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship - Curriculum

Rotation schedule

Foot and ankle surgery fellows will on service with both a junior and senior resident, following their rotation schedule and rotating every six weeks when two residents are on service, staying with the junior resident.

The fellow is expected to assist in the teaching of both the junior and senior resident.

The fellow will be expected to have a half-day ‘fellow’s clinic’ and half-day OR on Fridays, where they take full ownership of and provide excellent care to these patients. The fellow may, on occasion, supervise a junior or senior resident who provides care, helping the fellow develop their skills in educating future physicians while simultaneously helping to develop the resident’s skills in patient care.

The fellow will be provided a copy of the resident rotation expectations, helping them to better understand the faculty expectations for fellow participation on service. The fellow will be expected to meet and exceed these minimum requirements.

The fellow will be expected to attend and be involved in the resident monthly foot and ankle lecture series. Additional education will be provided during weekly foot and ankle subspecialty conferences.

We expect that the fellow’s knowledge will be additive to resident and medical student education.

The fellow will have the ability to take call. This must be approved by the faculty and pay will be 50% of the prevailing rate.
