What drew me to the program: The size of the program in relation to the size of the city. Also there’s a lot of diabetes and hypertension in South Carolina (shocker), so it’s ideal for learning to manage that.

What drew me to the program: With our interview season being virtual because of the pandemic, it was difficult to really get a feel for programs. Many said amazing things about their program, but Prisma Health’s Internal Medicine program really made me feel it, even via Zoom! From interviewing one-on-one with Dr. Eicken, our program director, to meeting all the amazing administration and residents, it became clear right away that Prisma Health Upstate was the perfect place to complete my residency training. As I am considering doing a GI fellowship, I was looking for a rigorous university program that didn’t sacrifice on having a family feel! Prisma Health Upstate has exactly that balance and I can’t wait to continue learning everyday to better serve my patients!

What drew me to the program: The people of Greenville, including the incredible physicians we have here at PRISMA, have given so much to both myself and my family. I wanted to continue to learn and grow in a program that has believed in me and has been crucial to my success growing up. I wish to spend my future serving and giving back to this city, and I look forward to my next 3 years of residency and all the learning/growing ahead of me.

What drew me to the program: It was an interesting interview season with the first ever virtual format. However, I particularly enjoyed my interactions with the residents and faculty during my interview here. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and I felt that I fit right in and could find support and family within this program…spoiler alert, my gut was right. The city is also perfect size in my opinion, because you can get the downtown experience, but have plenty of hiking and water in close proximity. The program itself was also impressive and I felt that I would be well prepared for any career or fellowship opportunities that I wished to pursue.

What drew me to the program: At the beginning of the application process, I was pretty sure I would have to compromise between academics and well-being. On my interview day, I began to realize that didn’t have to be the case. Hearing from the residents within the program only further reassured me of what I quickly realized: this program places an emphasis on teaching and diversity of experiences, while keeping resident happiness at the forefront. Pair that with a gem of a city, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect program.

Why I chose Greenville IM Residency: So many things! I love that our program combines the strong, academic environment of a large teaching facility with a modestly sized training program. Greenville Memorial has the acuity and resources needed to build capable, well-rounded internists, while the program size allows for a true “family feel” amongst the residents. It was an added bonus that Greenville was only a few hours from where I grew up and I have family nearby. My fiancĂ©e and couples match partner felt equally as strongly about the pediatric department, and we couldn’t be happier with where we are!

What drew me to the program: Many graduates and faculty from my medical school raved about the Prisma Health residency programs. After interviewing with the Prisma – Health Upstate Internal Medicine program, I completely understood why. This program offers innovative and evidence-based internal medicine training in a uniquely humble and supportive environment. Numerous opportunities exist for residents to tailor their training towards their career interests, and faculty are approachable and eager to teach. All of the residents I interacted with during my interview were kind, inviting, and very happy to be living and working in Greenville. The city of Greenville was the cherry on top of an already wonderful residency program, as it boasts many outdoor activities, restaurants, events, and opportunities for young professionals. I am grateful for the privilege of being a part of this wonderful training program and community!

What drew me to the program: I was interested in finding a small to mid-sized program that would allow for close interaction with faculty and opportunities for mentoring. Throughout my interview day, I could tell that attendings involved with the program were interested in resident education and engagement. I also very much appreciated the close-knit community among residents that was apparent throughout the interview day.

What drew me to the program: The people here were by far the friendliest and most helpful that I came across on the interview trail, and the size of the program (not too big and not too small) was exactly what I was looking for. It doesn’t hurt that Greenville is an awesome city with tons of things to do outside of work! If you haven’t visited here yet, you won’t be disappointed!

What drew me to the program: Everyone on Zoom seemed so nice! During the resident get together they were all together and you could tell they really enjoyed being around each other. This was exactly what I was looking for! I also liked the smaller class size and how this allowed for a more tight knit community. Overall this residency program provided the academic rigor in combination with the camaraderie I was looking for.

What drew me to the program: I was drawn to the program because of the small class size and sense of community. All of the residents and faculty are eager to help with any questions and everyone genuinely wants you to succeed. Additionally, with the addition of several new fellowship programs, this program can offer great research opportunities without sacrificing the benefits of a small program. The city and location of Greenville are also impossible to beat, especially for my wife and I who were looking to move closer to our families in North Georgia.
