Chris Schrank, MD

I am a big sports fan and love being active and playing whenever I can. I recently moved into a house and look forward to having residents over for rest and relaxation. I am a beer and bourbon enthusiast and love relaxing outside by my firepit with a glass in hand. I hope to continue to build the welcoming and enriching environment that already exists at Prisma Health Upstate.

Future Career Interests: Hospital medicine and antibiotic stewardship

When not at work you can find me: At a golf course playing 18, playing kickball/softball/basketball with other residents. If not one of those, hanging out at home enjoying football, basketball, or golf/ rewatching one of my favorite tv shows like X files, West wing, or The Office.

Favorite Place in Greenville: Any of the many great golf courses it the upstate, or downtown on main at one of the many great restaurants.

Why I chose Greenville for Residency: I chose Prisma Health Upstate Internal Medicine Residency for a variety of reasons, but ultimately, it came down to the feeling I got on my interview day. IM residencies will largely be structured in a similar fashion, so the important characteristics that distinguished them for me were reputation, career advancement opportunity and level of commitment to resident educational, professional and personal development and growth.

At Greenville, all of these characteristics came to the forefront, not because of anything specific on paper, but because of the feel and interactions with the people that make this residency program run. Residency is a time of hard work, but it is also a time for great potential. I needed a program that would demand a lot from its residents, but still at the end of the day provide a platform that allowed residents to grow as physicians.

Prisma Health Upstate is that program.

Haley Thompson, MD

My name is Haley, and I am married to my high school sweetheart, Michael. Together we have two of the sweetest rescue pups, Stella and Goose, who rule our home. I love a good Netflix binge or a good book. I am a huge fan of getting out and exploring local eateries or finding some sort of outdoor adventure. I love living here!

Future Career Interests: Pulmonary Critical Care

When not at work you can find me: We love taking our dogs on hikes in Traveler’s Rest or Paris Mountain State Park. You also might find us out on the water somewhere, kayaking or floating. Otherwise, I might be recharging at home watching The Office for the 407th time through.

Favorite place in Greenville: Anywhere with delicious (or free) food and drinks! Also, Falls Park on the Reedy isn’t too shabby.

Why I chose Greenville: The residents truly made me feel at home on interview day and seemed genuinely happy. The level of support from everyone in the program here is unmatched!
